About Us
Our Mission
The mission of St. Vincent General Hospital District is: Delivering Excellent Healthcare to our Community with Dedication, Honesty & Compassion.
The vision of St. Vincent General Hospital District (dba St. Vincent Health) is to create an adaptive, collaborative, accessible and sustainable healthcare system.
In 2021 the St. Vincent General Hospital District in Leadville, Colorado, opened a 26,500-square-foot replacement hospital. Built on the ten acres adjacent to the former hospital which is now called the Legacy Building.
St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, rehab/physical and occupational therapy, and other health-related offices synergistically complement each other as healthcare providers and staff care for people as though they’re family.
Led by an active and engaged board of directors, this nonprofit Critical Access Hospital is designed for the community it serves: the 400-square-mile service area in Lake County, and Leadville, the highest incorporated city in North America. This high-alpine enclave, at 10,152 feet in elevation, has a rich history of mining and miners and a legacy of independence and determination. That spirit is evident in today’s year-round residents and visitors. Here, people race their mountain bike 100 miles and climb the state’s highest fourteen-thousand-foot peaks.
The population of Leadville and Lake County is growing, alongside hospital patient volumes. The overarching goal of St. Vincent Health leadership is to ensure that the community has access to consistent and sustainable health and hospital care — now and into the future. St. Vincent Health is an essential safety net for the people of Lake County, the emergency department and ambulance service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
